We are beyond thrilled to congratulate Michael Zacka and Dylan Blake on an incredible result at the 2025 Tatts Finke Desert Race – claiming 4th overall outright and 1st place in the PRO Buggy Class!
For those unfamiliar, the Tatts Finke Desert Race is no ordinary event. Held every year over the King’s Birthday long weekend in June, this two-day off-road marathon pushes both machines and drivers to their absolute limits. From Alice Springs to Aputula (Finke) and back, competitors face brutal desert terrain, scorching temperatures, and one of the toughest, most iconic off-road courses in the world. It’s not just a race – it’s a test of endurance, skill, and pure determination.
And Michael & Dylan delivered all three in spades.
THE ROAD TO VICTORY
Starting the weekend in 28th position after prologue, Michael and Dylan quickly made their mark, finishing Day 1 in 6th outright and already leading their class by over a minute. But they weren’t done yet.
By the end of Day 2, they’d climbed to an outstanding 4th overall outright – and completely dominated the PRO Buggy class, crossing the finish line with a huge 10-minute lead over their nearest competitor.
This result not only improves on their impressive performance from last year (4th overall / 2nd in class) but shows the level of dedication, talent, and passion they bring to the sport.
A BLACK BEAR FAMILY SUCCESS STORY
Michael has been a proud part of the Black Bear Tyres family since 2019, always pushing for innovation in off-road racing. Starting in the Cam-Am Prolite Buggy class, he’s been part of the team refining performance with Black Bear Baja Rally and Baja Dakar tyres. Now, armed with the Baja King LT37x12.5R17s, Michael and Dylan have well and truly proven the combination of driver talent and tyre technology is a winning formula.
With off-road racing running deep in his veins, Michael continues the family legacy started by his late grandfather and carried on by his father. Now it’s Michael’s time to make his mark – and he’s doing it in speed and style.
WHAT’S NEXT?
Keep an eye out for Michael and Dylan as you might just catch them next at the legendary Loveday 400, Round 3 of the Australian Offroad Racing Championship, 25-27 July, followed by : The Gundy 500, Goondiwindi, Queensland – August 8th-10th, 2025.
We can’t wait to see what Michael and Dylan will bring to the table next. With momentum like this, the sky’s the limit.
Congratulations again to Michael Zacka, Dylan Blake, and the whole team on an epic Finke campaign!
Stay tuned… the Black Bear family is only just getting started.
